Colorado Information
Colorado is known for many things, one of which is the number of great outdoor activities available year round. With over 22 million acres of land, visitors have more than enough to keep them satisfied. Visitors looking for extreme pleasures or just the best relaxation available can find it in Colorado.

Boasting about 300 days of sunshine, one would be hard put to find a vacation spot with so much to choose from. The state offers great summer fun and winter pleasures that must be experienced to be believed.  For many visitors only snow and skiing come to mind when thinking about Colorado, but there is so much more.

Skiing

Skiing is one of the most popular outdoor activities in Colorado. The state is known for having more skiable space than any other skiing slope in North America. It also has the distinction of having the highest peaks in the USA. Skiers from all over the world generally head to Colorado when they want real skiing in a superb setting.

The state actually has over 26 ski resorts. These cater to all incomes, with offerings ranging from the most opulent accommodations to the most basic, rustic setting. There really is something for all skiers when it comes to Colorado.

The most popular ski resort in Colorado is Aspen. What may not be as well known is that there are literally two Aspens: Aspen Highlands and Aspen Mountains. The Aspen slopes are known to satisfy the most experienced skier or the timid beginner. To top it off, the view from the top is almost painstakingly beautiful. The skiing season generally runs from December to April.

Another popular spot, Telluride, is also the place where Butch Cassidy started his career by robbing his first bank. The Telluride Ski Resort is believed to have one of the largest vertical drops in North America. In 2008, the resort revealed that its Revelation Bowl would be opening for the skiing season. The skiing terrain, like most in Colorado, has a fantastic view to add to the pleasures of flying down the thick snowy slopes.

Other ski resorts worthy of note are sister sites, Vail and Beaver Creek. Vail landed the number one spot for skiing locations in the 2004 edition of Ski Magazine. Beaver Creek wasn't far behind, taking the number four spot in the same magazine.

Trained instructors are available to teach even experienced skiers new tricks. Newcomers to the exciting world of skiing are not excluded, as they too can have their pick of trainers. All the resorts and other areas that offer skiing have trained instructors on staff to make your time in the powder fun, exciting and safe.

Snowboarding

Snowboarding offers snow lovers another opportunity to enjoy the slopes and white powder. This extreme sport appeals to those who love a little danger in their fun. The 300 inches of snow that generally falls in Colorado provides the perfect cover for snowboarding fun.

Attractions

There is no shortage of things to see or places to visit in Colorado. The only problem is deciding how to pack them all into one vacation. Nature lovers will be happy to relax in the natural hot springs. Others will want to try their hands at winning some money at any of the state's more than 40 casinos.

Dinosaur Ridge is a must-visit spot for history buffs who want to walk where dinosaurs once did. Visitors who have a fascination and love of Native American culture will have a field day. Visits to the Koshare Indian Museum should be on any schedule of activities.

Summer fun includes participation in biking events, whether as a competitor or spectator. Almost every town has some activity every week of the summer months. Best of all, skiing resorts like Breckenridge and Beaver Creek Lodge offer summer time activities as well.
