Glenwood Springs is located 40 miles north of Aspen, and 60 miles west of Vail, Colorado,

Glenwood Canyon is the gateway to western Colorado and is the starting point of many popular hiking trails like Hanging Lake and Grizzly Creek. Back in time Glenwood Springs became known as the "Spa in the Rockies" and attracted the rich and famous of the day, including President Theodore Roosevelt, President William Taft, and the "Unsinkable" Molly Brown. Glenwood Springs also attracted infamous gangsters such as Al Capone and Diamond Jack Alterie. Gunman-gambler-dentist, John Henry "Doc" Holliday also came to Glenwood Springs in hopes of curing his tuberculosis by soaking in the hot springs, One favorite in-town hike brings you to the memorial of Doc Holliday; history buffs also enjoy the Hotel Colorado, where Teddy Roosevelt once stayed.

The local area is surrounded by public lands, including the White River National Forest, which attracts hunters and campers from afar. Flattops Wilderness area dominate to the North and the Grand Mesa is to the west, the Flattops is a very large area offering unlimited high-country exploring, with a four Mile recreation area it offers easier day mountain access favored by locals.
