Salida

The City of Salida is a Statutory City and is the  most populous city of Chaffee County. Founded in 1880, Salida was originally a railroad town and was a important link in the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. Today the most extrusive business in Salida is tourism, consisting of skiing at Monarch ski area, kayaking, outfitting and whitewater rafting, particularly on the Arkansas River,

Salida is also home to the annual FIBArk kayak race, one of the oldest whitewater races in North America.
The city has a total area of 2.2 square miles, a community of 5,500 is surrounded by Forest Service and Department of Wildlife lands, an area praised for its mild weather year round and with 15 peaks that reach over 14,000 feet in altitude Salida is a perfect setting for your outdoor adventure, never is there a dull moment in Salida.

Salida’s charming downtown area is the largest historical downtown district in Colorado, it is home to sections of Victorian buildings with amazing restaurants, inspiring galleries, fascinating boutiques, outdoor sports stores, and an array of indulging shops.
