Located near a number of world-class resorts, the Town of Silverthorne is the most occupied town in Summit County,located between the Gore Range to the west and the Continental Divide to the east, surrounding the valley are Ptarmigan, Tenderfoot, and Ten Mile Peaks, the two most visible mountains are Buffalo and Red Mountains.
Since its banding together in 1967, over the course of its existence, the Town of Silverthorne has gone from a temporary construction camp for workers building the Dillon Dam, to a time where the most the Town had to offer was an accomidating refueling stop along the Interstate, to a full-service, sensible community of an estimated 4,061 people, the town is home to approximately 15% of the County’s residents.
Amenities include the Silverthorne Recreation Center; the Outlets at Silverthorne; and Gold Medal Fishing on the Blue River which has helped Silverthorne firmly built itself as a destination on it's own.
Today, the evolution of the town continues, as plans for the future of the town are underway.
